I looked up that car online (because I'd never heard of it) and I have to say that between that car, and Mad Max's Interceptor, Australia has had at least a couple of kickass looking cars.
I know that the Mad Max car was a modified Ford Falcon, but when I looked it up (a while back, when I thought it might be a Maverick) I saw that it was exclusive to Australia. Pretty sweet.
You hadn't heard of the EJ (understandable) or of Holden at all? Holdens were Australia's answer to Ford in a way, and were built extra-tough for rugged Aussie conditions back then - more unpaved roads; fewer planes. Here's a pretty decent page about EJs, and it links to old Holden ads: http://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au/car_info_holden_ej.htm
Holdens were manufactured for decades under the GMH banner which was so ubiquitous that the GM logo is recognised here as the GMH logo with the H missing. Well, to lots of us. :P
If Mad Max was made today, I reckon they'd be pilloried if they didn't use a Holden. People are more nostalgic about them than ever. Plus they're the best car on the apocalyptic landscape. (Bar none, mate!)
[ i always wondered if you'd designed your own address labels. where online did you do it?
i thought of you the other day when i saw a perfectly restored holden EJ. i know bugger all about cars, but it was so beautifully done, it looked like it had dropped straight out of the sixties. ]
Indeed I did. I did it using one of their blank ones, I think, at VistaPrint but I urge caution! They have sneaky "extra" deals that they try to slip into your order if you don't uncheck certain boxes. Their reviews are full of complaints from all over the world, but I found them fast and cheap (also how I like my lovers
( ... )
They stopped being cool when they started making cars out of plastic! Check out this page to read more about the EJ (http://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au/car_info_holden_ej.htm) and find ads and all-sorts from links there. Also, I haven't forgotten to post a bigger pic of that photo of mine. I'll post other pics too - when I get more ti-yi-yi-yiiiime!
