Rave On, Good Times.

The other day at Flower Power, when it was too hot to leave Kenji in the car, I sat in the shade with him and sang Rave On by Buddy Holly for the whole time Todd was plant shopping. He only came out with a maidenhair fern despite the plan to get about six plants or more, and I sang loudly enough that under any other circumstances a person would ( Read more... )

Speaking of wrong lyrics...for years the uncle of one of my exes used to think that instead of singing "More than a woman", the Bee Gees were singing about "Bald Headed Woman".
Every single time I hear that song I have a bit of a chuckle to myself.

At our bar camp-out the owner fired up his karoke machine and they got me to do Elvis' "Nutritious Minds", speaking of lyrics.

Once a year the owners close the bar and we go to the one brother's place in Michigan and have a campfire and visit the haunted house down the road and get real drunk and fall down. And yes there was probably a lot of bonding and crap, but I was too busy drinking and singing Elvis songs to participate.

Or 'Happy Days' when the lads meet college girls by a sound stage fire and pretend to be Tunisian. Yeah, likely that.

It wasn't the best. I tried to get Rave On back but to no avail.

Oh, that Toothpaste For Dinner guy gives me total mixed feelings. I bet it makes you shave really slowly. I do like the clip where he's showing how he creates a simple one-frame comic though. I wish more draw-ers would do that.

I heartily recommend Aaron McGruder (et al.)'s Birth of a Nation, which is a graphic novel about East St. Louis seceding from the U.S.A. The new nation, Blackland, has an anthem set to the tune of "Good Times."

It's no longer available but I added it to my Wish List all the same. Sounds excellent.

I have a black & white galley proof of that. I think the Kyle Baker & Aaron McGruder combo could have been great, but it felt a little watered down to me. Some good bits, though.

Was that through the bookshop or just a lucky find?
