Day 29: Favourite quote. The entire episode this comes from is beautiful, of course, but I like this scene because you could totally take it out of context if your shipper goggles were on too tight ( Read more... )

LET'S LOVE TAGIRU TOGETHER \;;A;;/ Poor lil unloved Chimchar. I adore the points you bring up - he totally had a set up to become a cool, interesting character, it just ended up not happening. Which is the same for everybody in Hunters so idg why he gets so much hate.

YES EXACTLY \o/ I mean... you've got characters like Ren who weren't on screen long enough to really get even hints of characterisation, all he did in the season was be a jerk in one episode and then have stupid hair (which is also pretty much what Tagiru did! Except he was less of a jerk!), but people seem to love him.

I know! I mean I liked Ren? Or didn't dislike him? I thought the rival team was quirky and cool. Airu got on my nerves at first and I was revolted at the only main girl in the series being an obnoxious, selfish brat covered in pink and obsessed with cuteness, but I ended up liking her precisely BECAUSE she was flawed. In the end, she shows more personality than both the boys :'D

Ren seemed like a cool concept - he seemed flawed and kind of an ass and he liked rare Digimon so that set him apart from the others... and then that's *all* he ever does, he barely even participates in fights at all. We don't find out how he met his Digimon, why he's with the others, nothing. How is he more liked than Tagiru?

I know a big complaint was how Tagiru "stole the spotlight", but that's bullshit. The issue isn't him getting screentime, like I said on tumblr, it's everybody else not getting screen-time development at all. It's that the series focuses on fillers and fanservice (I mean the crossover) rather than on its own characters and story.
