I heard something about citizenship to this crappy town. Why would I try to be a citizen here if I'm trying to get home?

citizenship, this place sucks

To run for mayor.

Why would I want to run for mayor?

Well, you might not want to and no one's forcing you, but other people might want to use the political power to change a few things.

It'd be a interesting way to pass the time while we look for a way out.

Maybe. I think it's just a waste of time.

I was hesitant to do so myself, but there is no reason to upset our hosts, especially since they may determine whether I would start a tea shop or not.

Well, I'm not applying. I shouldn't have to be a citizen of Paixao to help you. And if anyone has a problem with it, then they'll have to deal with one mad earthbender.

If they truly knew you, they would know not to displease you.

But, you did not participate in our war because you wanted to, but because you needed to so we all would be free. We cannot begin to know what we want for ourselves until we know what we can gain from others.

Yeah, I guess you're right. Still, I'd rather use my time to find Aang and the others than waste my time applying for citizenship.

Tell me about it. First, we're kidnapped and stuck here, and now they ask us to become citizens? What kind of place is this?

Hell if I know. Nothing makes sense here. I don't expect it to ever start making sense.

Great. First, there's other places I can't even feel, and now you're talking about how nothing makes sense anyway.

Seems there are plenty of benefits to signing up. I'd prefer to keep off the record, myself, but I suppose I can see the draw for some.

Yeah? And why aren't you signing up?

I don't need to sign up, and doing so would just waste my time.

Personal preference, as well as personal reasons. To be fair, I'd say the same to any call for citizenship. I keep a strict policy of "fealty toward none."

I like the way you think. Do what you want, when you want. That's the life.
