Because Prop. 98 is a Trojan horse, using stealth and fear to slip a permanent end to rent control into the state constitution, where it would have to be practically dynamited out.

Rent control is what has kept my mom in her apartment in Palms and from being thrown into the street, although she is moving here to Cleveland at the end of the month, where the rents are far lower. Cleveland is a renter's market so we don't "need" rent control here, but places like LA it's vital.
