Vincent Crabbe and the Goblet of Bile

You may have been wondering what’s been happening in Australian politics lately. Haven’t we all, kids, haven’t we all.

One or two people too lazy to look it up on Wikipedia have been waiting longer for a sequel to this post than I’ve been waiting for Jo Rowling’s Potter Encyclopaedia. The difficulty has been that the recent government has been ( Read more... )

Hahahahahahaha! Brilliant summary. Had to laugh, because, as an Australian, what else is there to do?

Cheered me much more than the Daily Telegraph, which described the situation as "TONY Abbott's leadership was lost in a contest of morality - of loyalty to Joe Hockey and treachery at the hands of Malcolm Turnbull" Yes, I know. *gags*

I glimpsed at the Tele and the Oz today while they were laid out on the floor in preparation for the weekly clean of the office fish tank. They have CLEARLY lost the plot and Rita is doubtless frothing at the mouth today. Excellent!

And yes, you're wholly right, laughter is the only sane solution.

This is very timely, as I have just seen the Julia Gillard / Schadenfreude piece on FB and was wondering what was going on in the Land of Oz. It is also, naturally, utterly brilliant. May I share it abroad?

I note that our dollar has already strengthened.

Oh Brammers, I do so love you. I was reading about this a couple of days ago and I thought to myself, 'Riss, what you really need is one of Brammers's jolly useful and really informative Potter-y Guides to Australian Politics!' so I went and re-read your earlier posts to refresh my knowledge of the main characters. This new addition was everything I could have hoped for. 'Knife the ratfucker'. Indeed. Spot on.

It's the thing I miss most about Rudd. "Ratfucker" has really falled out of the political discourse since his departure.

There for you, my friend!

Good grief, did you stay up all night, or have you been penning this for weeks, knowing that the outcome was, at some point, inevitable?!

I love these from you. I'll admit, I like Malcolm far better than Abbott but it's still the Libs after all. Now what we need is some actual leadership from the left or we'll have five more years of conservative govt instead of just one.

So going to be late getting the children to school after reading this. Ha.

3am, ecospher! Or near as makes no difference. Thank goodness yesterday was print deadline because today I was a zombie. Obviously I should have been prepared: did you see First Dog on the Moon's Goodbye Tony strip?

And yes! If *I* was in charge of the ALP, I'd have a quiet word with Bill and say 'Look, either start acting like the Leader of the Opposition, or else resign - and I swear no one will judge you - and leave the way clear for Albo or Plibbers. Because Albo has enough mongrel in him to bring the "Yeah, Malcolm, what happened to our NBN?" and Plibbers can out-Death Stare Julie.'

Sorry about the school run, but I suspect you're more of an education for your kids than anything they get inside the gates :-)
