if i recall right... paradime physicaly fused the two together. simalar Jet and the orca. except the creators gave spike almost human like intelagance. thus makeing him usefull to paradime.

But... i don't remember if the fusion was done on purpose or acident. i'm thinking acident.

also, Swordo said in the show that 'spike' rememberd doing things. implying shared memories. but they never took it farther then that. nor can i recal how the sharks knew him to begin with... hmm...
