One minute he was down there and the next he is lying in a field in the rain.

Nekkid. You forgot the nekkid. Oh, wait. He never said that part, did he. That's just in my head. Because when you wake up from being dead in a field, you're nekkid.

See?

Reference Daniel Jackson's return from being dead and ascended (as opposed to the other umpteen bajillion times he's died--it's a long, time-honored tradition with Daniel).

Or maybe that's just when you wake up not having just been in Hell. I dunno. I just automatically saw that picture in my head.

Sam looks pretty freaking upset that his brother's family might not be alive. Do you know how much I love this particular dynamic? I've been wanting this sort of extended family dynamic in one of my shows for quite a while. I kinda sorta got it in an episode of N3, but I'm really hoping we get to see it explored in SPN this season ( ... )

ROFLMAO! You slayed me. Sam wore that blue plaid shirt for DAYS. It was GROSS by the time he got to Bobby's. LOL THEN HE GOT NAKED AND TOOK A SHOWER... SOMEONE FIC THIS, STAT.

And YES, to the djinns.

Also not lost on me is that Sam stands outside and WAITS to be invited in. But why? *crickets*

Well, of course because he knows it's gonna hit the fan when Dean figures out that BOBBY KNEW WT???? and that was a particular conversation that didn't need an audience.

I suspect that both Bobby and Sam knew that Dean would have to find out eventually. And they were still willing to suffer the fall-out from their questionable judgement. Oy.

Do you think Sam was just hoping that Bobby would play along and pretend that he didn't know? Ehhh. But then why didn't Sam admit that Bobby knew? And would Sam stand that far away from Dean's wrath now when he has never backed down from it before? That doesn't shake out, does it? And why is Sam not hunting with Bobby and instead hanging with people he barely knows just because they say they're family? SO MANY QUESTIONS. (all relevant, I believe, to him standing in the doorway... I'm just saying that we don't know how it ended between them last time they saw each other)

My read of the scene was that Sam was waiting until Lisa and Ben had gone upstairs before he entered the scene and Dean inevitably exploded. I didn't see either Bobby or Sam so much shying away from anything as being caught with their hands in the cookie jar and facing the consequences.

They had to suspect that eventually Dean would find out or they'd have to tell him. I read Sam's reaction as allowing Dean his inevitable explosion without the audience of his new family, whether that was for Dean's benefit, Bobby's benefit, Lisa and Ben's benefit, his own benefit, or a combination thereof.

I'm just saying that we don't know how it ended between them last time they saw each otherThis is true, and there was probably tension between them when Sam was talking Bobby into keeping the secret a year ago (which is how I think it went down). But given Bobby's calm, accepting greeting, I think whatever happened has either been forgiven, or at least been put on the back burner. Because put the three of them together, and Bobby and Sam ( ... )

Wait.... Sam was invited into Bobby's house? Did I miss that?
Hmmmmm.... I love that this show for all its anvils and slaps upside the head sometimes sneaks subtle into it

Agreed. I didn't get the sense that he was invited in so much as he waited until the opportune time to participate in the BOBBY KNEW WHISKEY TANGO FOXTROT moment.

Question feliciakw September 29 2010, 12:42:24 UTC
Question, and then I'll stop spamming your entry.

Which episode was it where at the end, Sam and Dean are in the car, and Dean says, "Now I know why parents lie to their kids. You want them going to bed feeling safe, and if that means lying to them, so be it. Sometimes I wish Dad had lied to us." ??

For the life of me, I can see the scene in my head, but I can't put it to an episode.

Help?

ETA: Wait. Was it "I Believe the Children . . . "?
ETA2: Yep, that's the one. Never mind.

DUDE!! LOVE!!!

I do think that alot of the 'Dean wants normal' thing was Sam and Bobby projecting onto Dean what they wanted. Dean's hallucinations tell us what normal really means when you boil it down: Just when you get comfy, bad things can happen. Which is how Dean ALWAYS thought and why he was the only Winchester who DIDN'T want normal (which made the whole speech by Samuel, who doesn't know him that much more annoying. Dean LOOKS like his Mama (with the 'tude to match), but wanted Hunting like his Dad and Sam LOOKS like his Dad (with the 'tude to match) but wanted Normal like his Mama - ) Normal leads to Bad Things...but now that he has it, he kinda likes it - but even worse, now he's stuck with it. His sheer presence has brought the Winchester Curse to this little family and his mistake for fulfilling Sam's promise is a price they have to pay.

Plus, Sam didn't tell Bobby SHIT about the Campbells - so Bobby better check his pockets (metaphorically).

Beautiful Lid - thanks for the awesome meta-review!

*Hugs you hard*

Amen to that! I hope there's an episode where Bobby and Samuel meet!!!!!! Funny, I was not such a Bobby fan lately, but now I feel differently. I think Bobby had the most genunine feelings and reactions to Dean showing up and why he kept Sam a secret, and for Bobby it all madde sense.

My love for Bobby has always held true - this made me love him harder. And I love how Dean didn't hold it against him in the end (see how he DIDN'T pack up Lisa and Ben and go elsewhere) though he's still amd at Sam (slightly) for TELLING everyone 'Don't go get Dean' which...I think he has a right. Though it won't last - never does when it comes to Sam.

*Smishes you*
