"When the stars have all gone out, you'll still be burning so bright"

*cries* I was only at work for five hours today and it still sucked. Someone called in sick, which left us understaffed to cover the phones, so we were trying to do that AND the counter stuff. And then I was cashing up, but I couldn't start on time because there was only two of us to do the show, so I had to stay out front. Where, naturally, a ( Read more... )

real life: christmas, yuletide, fandom: why isn't there more..., real life: work sucks

I have a poster in my room from The Galileo Project: Brecht's Brain, which is like, the awesomest thing on the planet.

On loving scarves- so I was waiting for a friend to pick me up after therapy today, and she was late, so I was wandering around Kowalski's, and there were these absolutely gorgeous scarves and I'm going back and buying one in every colour. Even if they are $20, and that's a lot of money for a strip of fabric. :)

:) I'm pretty sure the reason I keep trying to take up knitting is so I can make myself scarves. They're so pretty. And can add new and exciting colours to whatever you're wearing!

The Brecht is in my handbag now, so I'm gonna make a start on it soon. It bugs me that I can't quite get Brecht. Theatrically, he's pretty important ;)

Ohhhh, those are things I can help with, I believe. *ponders* :D

I WISH I KNEW MORE COMICS CONTINUITY! IT'S SOOO FRUSTRATING. I'm only good at Bats at the moment, and that not very. But Wonder Woman! I adore her. (And this is why you and quirkytaverna should be talking to each other some time. She knows about these things. *nods*)

Brecht. I don't know. I like *some* of his poetry, but I feel like I should learn German and read it in the original (which is a common form of ex-classicist guilt, I think), like I'm missing something somehow. But then I feel that a lot with poetry. Always confuses me that his plays sound like they should have been written by an entirely different person ...

See, there's bits of continuity I know by osmosis (or saturday morning cartoons) despite never having read the comics. And then there's DC's 'event' series....

There must be a good Wonder Woman story somewhere, but no one will tell me what it might be. I mean, Batman has a few must-reads, and Superman has Superman for All Seasons. (Have you read that one? It's lovely). But Wonder Woman is without a classic story. :( I do like her in New Frontier though.

(And you know I am always in favour of new friends, but I have problems making them!)

Brecht, the only one of his poetry I really know is 'There is no greater crime than leaving', which I really like. Other than that it's mostly the plays of his I've seen, and the method. I'm just not a huge fan of alienation, but that may say more about me than him!

Regarding 3, oh yes I agree on that (hence why I decided I need to write the TWW/Doctor Who crossover with President Seaborn, if only to make myself happy *g*).

Also list making as a feeling better thing = YES (though for me, it's more To Do Lists that make me feel better. Or at least less overwhelmed).

*g* There should always be more TWW crossovers. And I am even more in favour of one with DW and President Seaborn :D

Oh, and I like to-do lists as well. Still not productive, but it makes me feel better about it!
