Just to say the panels sound very interesting! I was ridiculously amused at the insurance ramifications of the supernatural. Also, yeah, tumblr appears to have eaten my soul, although it's far easier to read and appreciate longform stuff on lj.
Do you find that Tumblr supplements or usurps time on LJ/DW? I suspect the latter (of a lot of people) but have not collected actual data beyond watching an increase in tumbleweeds.
Uh, and meant to reply to the rest of your comment. :) That panel was a hoot. They've got a book idea there, seriously.

I spent way too much time pondering this answer only to come up with "yes and no". LOL. I do think with tumblr there's often less inclination for me personally to write lengthy posts. But in another sense at peak times I've previously just stepped away from fandom completely because lj was too temptingly participatory. Whereas on tumblr I can maintain a quasi-fandom presence due to being able to queue posts and dip in and out and "interact" without needing to have anything substantive to say. So I'd say tumblr has increased total time spent in fandom, but that the platform as a whole is diverting people from lj, and hence time spent here.

User corbae referenced to your post from Con.Txt report saying: [...] e, so I knew this panel was a must-see. has a good panel write-up in her general con post here [...]
I hope you will start with Pitch Black, the first in the trilogy and arguably the best! The second vastly expands the mythology and contains everyone's favorite slash pairing, Riddick/Karl Urban in metal armor. The third movie (Riddick) is when they tried to return to form, but it fell short. Still, had its selling points. Like more bondage. Did I mention the bondage? http://bironic.livejournal.com/319916.html :)
This is an excellent post, it's great to read-up on the panels I wasn't able to attend and also the one I modded and have no notes on most of it. It sounds like the Small Fandom group covered a lot of the same ground as the Dying Fandoms panel.
