"You are welcome to join me, visitor, guest, but you may be displeased. It's not clear, it's a problem. It won't shut up, you see, and the drugs aren't quite quieting me. She has a problem."

"A problem? Yeah, I heard." It's won't shut up...the drugs aren't quieting me... "You want to talk about it?" She watched River's face, trying to discern nonverbal clues from her behavior.
Glancing back over her shoulder at the trunk hovering behind her, she reminded River of a previous conversation. "You said something about wanting more books to read. I thought maybe that might help, for a while at least."

"Books. Books would be lovely if I were here. But I'm not quite here, you see, I'm almost on another plane of existence. I'm not near them, you see. I'll be back eventually, but I'm on a journey, no mission, and he tries to bring me back, but there are problems sometimes." She was speaking in a rush, as if she was trying to force the words out of her system. She began to shake a little. "Oh god, I need to be grounded, back to earth, I'm drifting away..."

Raven was at a loss of things to do for the poor girl before her. But something must be done, and logic, reason would not work because words would fall upon empty ears. She closed her eyes as she quickly thought back, trying to recall things that helped when she was losing the internal battle with the monster that lies within her.

That was how Raven normally regained control. Someone would do something or say something that allowed her conscious self to battle back her emotions when they began to run unchecked. But from what she had heard in whispered rumors, perhaps simply grabbing her and shaking her would not be a wise idea.
An idea crossed her mind, dangerous though it may be. "River....River. Let me try to help you, before you hurt yourself." Raven spoke cautiously, hoping not to startle the girl.
