I'm right with you there! Other than Jo and Ellen dying I haven't been moved like this by any other secondary character. I blame those sad, blue eyes. Oh, and also that I think Benny really did try to not give in to his vampiric nature and stupid crazy Martin ruined his one chance!
Oh, yeah, those flashbacks. Other than me not caring very much seeing as they were all about Sam, and Dean wasn't in them at all, I kind of thought the writers were like You want normal for Sam? Like he wants it for himself? You want a nice girlfriend for him? A dog? Freaking curtains? Well we'll give you all that! There you have it! Right until you're sick of it and we'll take it all away from him again! Ha!
I really believe he tried too. I just read your Dean/Benny post as well, that totally makes sense and is a really sweet thought. Aww, Benny. ♥ I love their brotherly bond so much. Plus it seemed like he tuned down his accent a little bit in this episode which I appreciated because it had been kind of getting on my nerves.

I'm totally loving this season and the awesomeness of Benny has allowed me to ignore whatever Sam's drama is.
And Martin's comment about John and the boys? 100% gold. No, it was never mentioned before and that's way more of a canon nod than I thought we'd ever see. Given, Martin was loony, but he also had plenty of lucidity and Sam sure didn't seem fazed by the comment...

I totally agree about Martin, he didn't seem to be delusional in this episode, just a bit deranged at the end. He definitely didn't seem like he was trying to insult Sam or anything, he said it like it was just a fact. Plus, didn't he know them when they were pretty young? I think it would be pretty much impossible to deny that John hit or spanked his boys after that.
