Author's Note: I wondered what made the crack in River's armor. What was it that tipped the scales from a heartless person watching a man die, to a wondering child, willing to accept?

And the only thing that came to mind, was the Tardis.

She never expected the Tardis.

I do love that there was enough love in River-- her love for her parents-- to let the TARDIS reach her. She could have become the BAD Wolf, but instead she becomes River. I think when the Doctor heard the TARDIS call Rory "Pretty" and saw them bond before her human self died, he knew the TARDIS had bonded with this pair of humans in a way she has never done with a human before. This was wonderful. Thanks for sharing.

Oh, quite lovely and worthy of both River and the TARDIS. It explains their connection even more than her being called the child of the TARDIS, especially since the Doctor loves them both.
