The chocolate ration has always been 20 grammes

(IOW, we're counting on you, the American Public, to have the memories of goldfish)Watching the news has always had surreal aspects to it: the long lag-time it takes the mainstream media to catch up to the trends they so breathlessly - and univocally - describe has long amazed me, making me wonder what planet the writers and editors lived on, how ( Read more... )

It was discussed over and over and over again...

The people at Defense Tech have been saying similar things, including that the intelligence gatherers in DC rely quite a bit on the news media for their information (or on "open sources.")

a few many years back same thing with libraries bellatrys June 29 2006, 17:51:20 UTC
this is one reasons librarians so "paranoid" [sic] about the [pat]Riot Act, went through it already over whether or not it could be made illegal, thus reportable/treason not to do so, to allow known Soviet spies to go to a public library and read the already-openly published scientific texts on nuclear technology or potential targets. Among other things were the GovDocs, stuff that the US govt itself puts out as public information - public health, food, disease vectors, etc. They could use it against us! Maybe we should just make *all* potentially-misuseable information off limits to people who can't prove they have a legitimate interest...

It really is the Great *Game* to them bellatrys June 30 2006, 15:46:54 UTC
Le Carré really was right to make the whores, the courtesans and mistresses, just about the only honest, honorable, truth-facing, idealists willing to take risks for causes and other persons in Night Manager.

Just finished 1995's Our Game, in which he foretells the whole bloody disaster of Chechnya and Western apathy to what happens to a bunch of Muslim hick ethnics, "blackarses," by the so-called champions of Freedom and Liberty on both sides over the years. Beautifully-written Journey Of A Soul out of self-serving self-deception, out of the Cave - The Honorable Schoolboys Grow Up, it might be titled - and into the typical Le Carre ending.

This looks seriously fucked up, even by Israeli standards.
100,000s of people's lives threatened in the Gaza gulag.
