holy crap, dude. moms are weird birds. if you come here, we can go somewhere and only say nice things about people. this will be very hard for me and probably won't really happen. but at least if we laugh at people, it won't be about their weight. promise.
oh don't get me wrong here, i'm not saying i'm a saint by any means. it's fun to go out and make fun of people and their quirkinesses every now and then. i like to think of it as an observational study. but hearing the same disgust and criticism of a group of people's one common trait all my life has left an impression on me and now being able to acknowledge her issue explains a lot about my experience growing up and hopefully i can deter her evil away from my impressionable daughter.
i knew what you meant, silly! when ARE you coming here, though? i have a book for you that was pretty good. The Girls Guide To Hunting and Fishing. a novel, not the other girl guide to whatever.
I've read that one! And it was good. I have another book by that same author if you'd like it, it's called The Wonder Spot, but i think the hunting and fishing one was better.
whew, this post was loaded!dejavuduJune 20 2008, 17:03:03 UTC
perhaps you need a CAT scan or whatever else they're using to look for tumors these days. daily pain medication just doesn't seem to be the best long-term solution..
i am THOROUGHLY amazed at how (relatively, heh heh) well your mental health has turned out given that so many body image problems are caused by mothers everywhere. I can't imagine much that's sadder than a grown woman disparaging the weight of strangers in an airport like she's still sitting in a 7th-grade cafeteria. Mad props for the amount of patience it must have taken to vacation with the 'rents. When oh, when will you forsake them, and me my aunt charlotte so we can take that cruise together!!?

oh great, now you have given me a tumor! you never witnessed my major brain malfunction. i think i have had enough mental health issues to last a lifetime. it was a struggle to put up with my parents for a week but they paid for the plane tickets and i got to see my grandparents who i haven't seen in about 5 years, so it was worth it. they have planned a beach vacation in july that i agreed to go on. am i crazy? maybe. but i just can't say no to beach!

it's the week before. don't you read my comments to her post? geez. :P i'm leaving my parents beach trip a day early so i can be in va beach, it's on the way back from where we will be. so i will get over a week of various beaches!
I know we could speculate all day about the cause of the headaches, but I wonder if it could be an allergy or food allergy. It's possible to develop a new one - my friend's sister got the peanut allergy in her thirties. I just say this because I have recently found out I have a hard shellfish allergy, and headaches were one of the symptoms. It could be something common that you're eating all the time, like lactose or wheat. Who knows? Also, I took a common allergy medication that caused weird problems for me. My former roommate had bad problems like headaches and mood swings from her birth control pill. Also, caffeine & artificial sweeteners sometimes can do a number on a person. Since the problem is getting so bad maybe you can write down everything you ingest and the times and see if there's any link? Just thought I'd bring it up --- but I'm with Karen on the CT scan. I just hope you can feel better!!! That's terrible.
it's funny you just mentioned birth control as being a cause. i just went to the gyn last week and asked him to switch mine to Yaz, which is advertised as helping with headaches. he said they add a hormone that helps with headaches, which i find rather amazing. i started them today and (knock on wood) i've yet to have a headache today! wish me luck. consequently my gyn's name is Dr. Bendfeldt.
