Wonderful story. Jay is such a great character, very real sympathetic, confident in himself and his identity in a way that Sam never has been. I love the relationship between them, and the way Sam is confused at first but willing to revise his long-standing assumption once he gets to know Jay. And Dean's reaction feels very realistic and in-character for him -- that he'd be freaked at first, but more concerned with Sam's happiness than with the freakiness. I would totally love to see the boys run into Jay again.

I admit I'm somewhat in love with Jay; he kind of snuck up on me as I was writing. But I don't this is the last the internet will see of him. One thing I love about Dean in canon is that even when he's being really dumb, he cares about Sam enormously. Thanks so much for commenting!

Oh this is lovely. Sam's vulnerability shines through as does Dean's love and support for him. I adore stories where Sam's happy, although I always fear it won't last long...

I love this! You do a nice job with Sam's mix of hesitancy, surety, and tenderness, and I really liked Jay. And Dean, obscene and occasionally inappropriate though he may be, is made of win. I hope this is not the last we see of Jay; I would love to read more about him.
