You know, I've never watched an episode of Supernatural but I still read the stories you write about it ... and I'll admit some of the recs. I enjoyed this and would like reading more. I've got questions of my own about the experience of being transgender or identifying as a different gender and it's interesting to see how you've handled them in this story. Not being involved in the fandom I don't know how much my opinion counts, but I think all of your OCs in this story are great characters and I hope to read about Jay again.

Well, I would generally advocate watching Supernatural. ;)

I'm really glad you liked this. I think you saw my posts about being a bit in love with Jay, so I don't think there's any chance he won't show up again. I haven't been this into an OC in a long time, and I was starting to worry that fandom had done something to that part of my brain.

Ha. I, too, have no familiarity with Supernatural outside of what I've read in this fest. But this story was wonderful, in both writing and subject matter. I love how much further you took this from the prompt, dealing not only with questioning sexuality but questioning gender, and how gender impacts, but is separate from, sexuality, and how these two kids work out their own definitions of each. I loved what a strong character Jay was, and how he gently steered Sam away from easy mistakes and misconceptions. And Sam comes out such a strong character at the end, embracing a queer identity despite the fact that he could have used the "loophole" theory to get around it. Just wonderful all around, thank you!

Thanks so much! The prompt was actually mine, which I claimed when no one else did, but this story was not at all what I expected to come of it. I really fell in love with Jay as I was writing this, and he kind of took over the story for me, and got me thinking about Sam's reactions to the world in a way I wouldn't have otherwise. Again, so very glad you liked it!

Ooh, loved this! I really like Sam's gradual exploration of his own sexuality, and his building relationship with Jay (who is also pretty darned cool). I'm excited to see where this goes if you decide to write more!

Thanks very much! I've already written a bunch more, and we'll see if I ever whip it into shape for posting.

I really enjoyed this look at Sam and the way he's growing up, trying to figure out himself. And the fledgling friendship with Jay is fascinating too - I'd love to see where you take it!

I'm so glad you liked it! I can't seem to get Jay out of my head now, so I think we'll be seeing more of him.

The edits really, really worked. This came together as a lovely whole, and you know how much I enjoyed the whole thing the first time around. Excellent, excellent stuff, darlin'.
