Hair fall?

Dec 06, 2007 12:46

I've been having hair fall since mid-September and I've been to see 2 doctors, but neither of them diagnosed me with anything and said there was basically nothing wrong with me. They both have confirmed I have no thyroid problems. I don't eat a lot of greens, but I do eat a fair amount of fruits everyday, and I don't think it has got to do with my diet.

Since mid-Sept, I've been losing about 100 strands of hair a day (which isn't normal for me because unlike most people, I have less dense hair than others) and every day when I wake up, my pillow has about 15-20 strands of hair. When I bathe, it just gets worse. However, for about the past week I have not been losing as much hair and in the morning my pillow usually has only a strand or two. But my hair still is very thin due to the amount of hair that has fallen for the past 2 months or so.

I'm worried that my hair won't grow back, because it's been 2 months and all my hair does is to just keep falling out. When I run my hand through my hair, I get a few strands on my palm. My hair's getting longer but not any thicker or more. What can I do? Will my hair grow back? Has anyone had a similar encounter?

EDIT: I used to think I was having a case of telogen effluvium because what I was experiencing seemed to have matched the symptoms of it, and after googling pictures of telogen effluvium, my scalp looked like the scalps of those who were having this illness, but the problem is the causes of telogen effluvium are trauma, chemo, childbirth, puberty (this is too vague, but maybe it's the cause for me?) etc. I have not experienced any trauma, and neither have I had chemo or a baby.

By the way I am only 15.

EDIT 2: I use Sunsilk's shampoo and my friends tell me it's not a good choice, but I'd like to hear a couple of reviews. I've used up my bottle and so far I personally think it's alright, but I need to get a new bottle and would like to get some suggestions from you guys. Which shampoos are best for brittle and thin hair?
