Oh, yes...
It's interesting, when I first (also second and third) read this story, I was certain they were all dead, that the white sheet meant something bad. This is the first time it occurred to me that someone might be left, that the sheet could be a call for help, not a sign that they'd surrendered, or that the house had been looted, it's contents strewn around the yard.

The white flag can mean so many things...and I know what it means to me which is half the fun.
