Ennis turned himself into a kind of zombie: no feeling, no love, no nothing. But I am glad Jack has the courage of reaching for him. Wonderful chapter. Thank you so much. Martha

Go Jack!

I suppose this won't be my last nod to cannon (otherwise it would not be fanfic). But hopefully other things will be easier to slip in more artfully and in a more original way. The 'you bet' moment was my favorite part of the movie - so I suppose it was only natural their reunion would be along the same lines. :-)

Thanks for making the experience of sharing this story such a joy.

"As a penance (...) Say one hundred Hail Marys and one hundred Lord’s Prayers every day for six weeks."

That's hell of a penance!!! (no pun intended... again;)) How much time a day would it take??? I'm not determined enough to check;P
I had never got more than 10 Hail Marys and I bet I'm far bigger sinner than this Ennis here;P Well, seems my confessions had never been honest, hm, so I abandoned them at last.

"How cruel was God to have him find love and then demand that he renounce it."

I doubt such a cruelty was God's intention. I hope Ennis will finally understand that such a gift like love shouldn't be rejected, it's too precious!!! And one can love God through the love of another human being!!!

I have an impression I'm repeating myself in my comments:) It just seems so unfair to me to be denied love of one's life.

Can't wait for the next chapter and Jack's visit!!!

Lol

It would take about 2 hours. Priests to-be usually get far more rigorous penance. And depending on the order, even inhumane to me.

for the faithful, depending on where you are, it can to waaayyy more than 10 Hell Mary's. I remember my mum changed parish once cos the priest always gave her a hard time about her IUD (birth control) during confession. The catholic church is a study in contradictions, with the good coexisting with the bad - much like every human enterprise.

I don't God was cruel, but I think Ennis has far more growing to do before he will realize he was blessed not cursed.

Thanks for commenting....and it's not remotely repetitive. :-)

Hey there! I've been reading and enjoying this, but I haven't properly commented. Bad me! I really like this. I think the whole religious aspect makes it fascinating. It is extremely difficult to walk away from your faith for the person you love, and I can feel Ennis's struggle here. Thanks so much for sharing with us!

*Does happy Dance*

To have one of the best writers in the fandom reading let alone commenting on my story is humbling...

I too have been awful at commenting. And perhaps now that I realize the value of feedback having posted something of my own, I'll do a better job of it in the future.

It is indeed an interesting story line - Thorn birds meets BBM meets Sound of Music, I suppose. Glad you like it.

Hi An,
Another wonderful chapter. I'm reading YOU for three days now and I love it.
You are very fast at updating.Have you written the whole story in advance?
I have been pimping your story today, in my journal, you saw it?
I can't wait for the reunion now.I'm glad it weren't four years that seperated them, this was more than long enough:-)Although I like a lot of angst, I'm always waiting for everything to be alright again.

Aw Caroline, I just saw the manips - they are puuurrrfect.

I am really glad to have put this story out here even though I was scared at first. A great gal volunteered to beta for me almost immediately(I can't edit my own writing for the life of me!)

The story was actually already whole in my head. I thought it was an obvious story line so I was hoping more talented writers would take it up. Once I started it, and got such good reception, I couldn't stop writing. I have almost all the chapters roughly written, so I should keep up this updating pace until the end.

Thanks for the manips, you have made my day.
XOXOXO
AN
