I could really see the Joker doing something that sinister for something so little. Talk about ten reaction for a problem no bigger than a two! Still an enjoyable read... well done!
I'll confess that stories where Harley ends up dead are not usually my thing, but this had it's moments! I saw it as a bit more Nolanverse than DCAU but I liked the Joker's amusement at cockroach-like death flailing, his slight distraction/confusion over timescales and the clean up comment at the end, although I'd imagine in the circumstances he'd be more annoyed at Harley for dying when he might have needed her to be useful at some point.
Okay, it's a bit more of "DCAU if the folks on BS&P were more lenient" than strict canon. I was just on the point that it was the insanity talking, and his full conscious mind hasn't quite caught up to the point that he just killed her?
