new internet.

My mom bought the house a new Internet connection, so I will have relatively stable access for my remaining week in Hong Kong. As the contract she signed actually lasts 12 months (something which she expended much energy complaining about), this also means I'll have to teach her how to use the Internet, at long last. I have no idea where to start. ( Read more... )

AHHHH say hi sometime. I must see you! I haven't talked to you in like... forever!! :(

Also: the Kylie Minogue song = win. SO CUTE! My friend played it for me a while back, but I totally forgot about it. Thank you!! :D

aaaaaaaaa thank you too! I am pleased that Kylie warranted such awesome icon pixels from you, I certainly thought so. Have you ever seen Lost In Translation? It's a bit slow and heavily emphasizes atmosphere (the word, I think, is 'artistic'), but that's nice if you enjoy weird. Dr. Jonathan Crane is weird. It works out.

I don't think you and I ever talked enough. You still aboard the TIG ship? I'm thinking about taking a few friends there, myself.

I have not seen this movie, although I heard it was a decent flick. Also, Bill Murray is adoreable. jonathan crane is ♥

As for TIG? Yeah, I'm there--although the game doesn't have more than 6 months left because of a certain someone's wankery. I wouldn't hold my breath too long in finding RP there--NO FUN ALOUD ON HER CLOCK. What a douche! ahem.

Anyway, yes. We should talk MORE, because the few times we talked I enjoyed the conversations. XD If not at TIG I'll get in touch with you at DNM or the like. ♥ Take care! :D

although the game doesn't have more than 6 months left ...

I heard a lot of people say that 6 months ago. Other people said it'd be dead in a year, one year ago. I've my fingers crossed. It takes more than one or two certain anyones to kill a game as strong as TIG, though to be certain, wankery never helps.

dssssfdd! You play on DNM? Don't I feel ignorant or, more likely, forgetful. Who who who?

haha, I've been pushing the internet on my mom too, although it's mainly the computer and how to access the online newspapers back home. I've actually convinced her to at least consider getting a laptop (anything beats my '98 desktop back home) from her friends. Been shouting at her *not* to accidentally click the ads and to actually know what on earth an address bar is (well, basically i have to teach her computer basics.) at least she can now probably use the computers at HKPL decently when she gets back.

but getting broadband at home.... unlikely. which is one thing I'll really worry when I get back home. 56K internet drives me crazy at times.
56K internet + Win98 is enough to explode my head. I can't even hook my laptop onto the modem.

Computer and news access seem like good places to start. 'Mommy, mommy, the little cross on the upper right means close you don't have to pull out the plug;;;' Basic skills, right? The ad stuff -- that can wait. That's complex.

Does your laptop have wireless? It's a really nice thing to have, if someone in the vicinity has a non-password-protected connection available. I remember the grief that 56K gave you back when we were tiny 13-year-olds or whatever. May you never again suffer such tribulations.
