Title: When Vegas Met Chicago (a Panic fairytale)
By: foxxcub

I'm Aleesha, and I would like to tell you a story about these two boys, Jon Walker and Spencer Smith, who play in a band called Panic at the Disco, and how they met and spread joy and sunshine through out the land.

Once upon a time, there were four boys from Las Vegas in a band.

Their names were (from left to right) Ryan Ross, Brent Wilson, Spencer Smith, and Brendon Urie.

The band that had just begun to make it big and grow its fanbase. They were touring and playing shows in Europe, and things were going very well, until Brent, their bassist, decided he didn't want to be in the band any longer. He left, leaving the other three boys without a bassist, and things did not look promising.

But then they remembered their good friend Jon Walker from Chicago, who was a guitar tech for another band they were touring with called The Academy Is...

Jon played the bass as well, and the other boys thought Jon was all kinds of amazing, so they asked him to fill in some shows with them. Jon agreed, and not long after they asked him to stay for good.

And they were finally a band again.

Jon made the boys very, very happy, but Spencer's smile was always the brightest of all.

And his smile was contagious.

Eventually Jon became comfortable with his place in the band, and began to open up more in interviews. He liked to tell others of his love for Bath & Body Works fragrances, and meanwhile Spencer could not help but lean in and smell him in public.

Jon would sometimes be a bad influence on Spencer in public.

But having Spencer's attention was always worth it.

While Ryan and Brendon took great care with the lyrics and the lead, Jon and Spencer looked after the beat; they kept it so well, a music critic dubbed them "wind" and "powerhouse".

Spencer was quite possessive of his "wind".

And Jon was equally attached to his "powerhouse".

As silly as it was, Jon got sad sometimes at the thought of having to share Spencer with others.

Jon really, really didn't like sharing his powerhouse.

He loved to watch Spencer, and as much as he tried to be subtle and not let on about it, he wasn't always successful.

Spencer was never very successful at the subtle business, either.

And sometimes they completely and utterly lacked in subtlety together. (Please note Jon's hand.)

But the not-subtle moments became obvious to more and more people, and the word "married" was soon attached to their names.

This was quite understandable.

(Please note Jon's hand. Again.)

(5:25 - "Spencer just looks good.")

In the end, Spencer eventually told Jon that people were talking about them being married. Jon was shocked, but the rest of the band just smiled.

And they lived happily ever after in married, adorable bliss!

So now that I've told you my story, let me rec other people's stories as well!

Can't Turn Left On Tuesdays by jocondite - "I've made out with guys a few times," Jon says meditatively. He shrugs and takes a sip of beer, utterly casual, like he's saying that he's played a few games of hockey, or played a little guitar in his time.

One of the best canon-based fics for this pairing out there.

the brightest of all the colors by beingothrwrldly - When he opens the door, Spencer is standing on his doorstep with a big duffel bag slung over his shoulder, shivering, snowflakes sparkling in his eyelashes when he blinks. He's wearing a jacket that's probably something designer, something that's definitely too thin for Chicago in January, and Jon tightens his grip on the doorknob and stares at him. "They joined PFLAG," Spencer says with a sigh, his words coming out in small puffs of white breath. "My parents joined PFLAG, and I can't handle it anymore."

SO PRECIOUS. This fic showcases both their platonic and non-platonic relationships, and also gives a wonderful take on Jon's mindset pre-Panic.

I will let you sleep by imogenedisease - But the thing was, when Spencer turned seventeen, he started having dreams about this guy.

An AU where Spencer is psychic. I still cry at the end of this and I've read it 1240354 times.

I Am a Camera by iridescentglow - "What are these?" Jon asked--not rudely or suspiciously: he blinked at Spencer with what looked like genuine curiosity. He thumbed through the stack of postcards briefly, before retracting his hand, as if realizing he might have overstepped a boundary.

Possibly one of my favorite fics ever written for this pairing. A little dark, a little unsettling, but still hot and emotional.

Ryan Ross: Wedding Planner by adellyna - Even better, neither Jon nor Spencer does anything on the list of Things You May Do In A Trailer Park, But Not In The Presence of Ryan Ross. Things like calling each other Poopsie and Snickerdoodle or playing foot-wrestling games or mentioning any poor and/or mentally ill relations.

Ahh, the wedding planner AU. Sure, it's primarily Ryan/Brendon, but it's the Jon/Spencer that utterly kills me. BECAUSE THEY ARE MARRIED, OKAY?

like explosions in the sky by flimsy - In a world where age is measured not by how long you have lived, but by how many years you have left, Spencer is five.

A dystopian AU with magical realism thrown in. Do NOT read this without Kleenex nearby.

Designer by madsciencechick - Jon can't even imagine Spencer in boy-cut pants. It messes with his fundamental understanding of the universe.

Sex in a fitting room at Macy's. The end.

a hollow rumble of wings by carleton97 - It's quiet for a moment when Jon's done and his mom seems to be studying both of them before she smiles, turns her head and yells for his younger sister to bring the blue photo album in from the den.

Sweet and gentle, it makes my heart do flippy things in my chest.

As Close As It Gets to Home by airgiodslv - Jon smiles, stolid in the face of Ryan’s unnerving stare. He’s got a nice smile and warm eyes, something compelling that makes you want to open up to him. Spencer isn’t convinced.

AU where Brendon, Spencer, and Ryan are telepaths working for law enforcement and Jon is their shrink. One of my top three favorite AUs in any fandom EVER.

Finally, I leave you with another Jon/Spencer primer that's probably a little more in depth than mine: Jon/Spencer picspam, yo by imogenedisease
