hi there, can't remember how i came across your blog, but i've been following on and off for a while. Love to hear your stories! :) I'm 30, and planning for a kid soon. I'm struggling to figure out how to prioritize career vs raising kids. I'm in the marketing line, and the work is sometimes tough, and i travel fairly frequently. Can i ask what kind of job you have (if you are still working), and whether you have any advice for me? - sharon :)

Hi Sharon,
I'm currently a fulltime mom but I was juggling work and kiddos when I was working in Melbourne. What I did was I had a nanny for three days a week and the kids went to childcare for a day. My work in the Telco industry there was quite flexible and my boss kindly acceded to my request to work at home on friday. =) I would cook for the kids when my nanny was here so that I know what their diet is like.
I tend to find that kids are a life changing experience. In fact, I often joked to my husband that it's not marriage that's hard, it's raising children. But that said, it is the most rewarding thing in the world. You really reap what you sow.
Get a good support system, like your mom or someone to look after them when they are young. I am lucky that I can choose to stay at home for the moment. That said, it's also impt to make sure that you and hubby spend time alone after having kids. Date nights are so impt to keep the relationship alive.
Good luck! Let me know if you got more questions k?
