A/N: Double drabble. Set in my Ghost of a Chance ‘Verse.
Ianto was looking forward to making planetfall at their next destination. He and Jack had been breathing recycled air aboard the Happy Wanderer and various space stations along their route for almost four months, and while that wasn’t really a problem since all air was carefully filtered and perfectly good, he missed feeling the wind in his hair and a breeze on his face.
Being cooped up away from natural light and fresh air for months at a time was probably the biggest downside to their life as independent cargo hauliers. Planets with spaceports were few and far between in this sector of the galaxy, but Hestanu had one, and that’s where their current cargo was to be delivered.
Jack brought the Wanderer down so smoothly on the pale grey plascrete surface that Ianto barely felt it.
“Perfect landing! Now, let’s get this cargo offloaded and then maybe we can have a few days of shore leave.” Ianto unbuckled from his seat and headed for the nearest access port, with Jack right behind him.
They threw the hatch wide, took a deep breath, and both started coughing.
“That may be air,” Jack gasped, “but it’s not what I’d call fresh.”
