I love your fan fiction, because you manage to communicate a kind of joyfulness & recklessness that, tonally, is very different from what the usual mood of the canon show. And yet! Seems absolutely in tune with both the show and the characters. I also love when you write meta about the show and characters and the experience of watching it. Just wanted to say that.

One of my favorite things about Vampire Diaries is how what we see is always slightly (or wildly!) at odds with what the characters say about themselves and each other. Seems very lifelike in that way.

Don't mean to be particularly anonymous, by the way. Just don't use livejournal very often, and never remember my password. I'm haszombiesinit on Twitter, and prettiestmonsters on Tumblr.

Oh, thank you! What a nice and unexpected comment. I only recently started using tumblr myself and I don't like it much unless I'm reblogging pictures. LJ is where I'm more comfortable ficcing and metaing, etc. So thanks for stopping by!

TVD is very purposeful in what they don't say, and I've always found it poignant that Damon and Elena's love scenes are very much about SEX and PLEASURE and all that, and the CONNECTION and LOVE we see between them. These scenes were no different, but even more powerful since they seem to think at this point that they shouldn't be together. Their bond is unbreakable, and will be even if they take sex out of the equation. It sure will be fun to see them try! :D

>>the characters SAYING one thing while actually SHOWING the opposite was true

Yes, that's it in a nutshell. They need to actually tackle the issues between them and not just view them as insurmountable.

Yes, and I want to see that so much. Tonight at PaleyFest, Julie Plec basically said that just because they recognize they have some co-dependence in their relationship doesn't mean they can't work it out. Ian went on to say they each needed to put on their "big boy (girl) pants" and deal with their problems. And then Nina piped up that the problem was that they keep taking their pants off. LOL. I love them so much.

It's true; Damon has said himself many times, when discussing Stefan's inability to walk the line, that he does have control and does have the power to keep it together...it's just that when he gets freaked out, his default mechanism is DESTROY everything.

But still, it's not like I don't think he can overcome it. And I don't think he'll do it without Elena, because they can't quit each other :D
