My game has a few rules in place. One of the more hated ones but one not going anywhere is that if your post is on an OOC nature, it cannot contain cussing. We're lax on what's considered a cussword, however. This rule is basically an enforcement of respect, as it's respectful not to cuss people out ( Read more... )

serial fail, doing it wrong, drama llama, i didn't read the rules

Well, it could still be worse. I had a player making thinly-veiled threats to my well-being in an IC manner, and when I paged the mods, they said there was nothing against the rules about it because it was in-character.

Seriously, the guy all but called me by name, referenced where I lived and made explicit reference to physical assault, and this doesn't warrant so much as a warning?

how was it in character if it was that far out of character as to be personal?

I never got an answer. They just passed it back to me and said it wasn't their problem. In hindsight, I probably just went to the wrong mod, as this one was later revealed to have it in for me because I dared to dislike her then-boyfriend(now-husband, make of that what you will).

I'm with you right up until the end, but that last bit confused me. If I understand you correctly, it's OOC swearing which is against your rules, and then he was banned when his character made use of the much dreaded and reviled "c" word?

From what I understood of the post, the ban was for a thinly-veiled slam against the warning that the player was hoping would be let slide "because it's actually my character saying it, not me!"

Yeah, seems like OOC sentiments going IC, which is obviously also a no-no anyway, never mind the language.

... Really? A page long post cuss out a 12 year-old? Just because their character lost a fight? Clearly the internet will now explode and rain down upon the land as fiery debris because their character lost a fake battle online. Someone call the whaaaaaaambulance so they can save the e-peen!
