=D I so love the way you handle Danielle and Alex's relationship. This is how it should be - you know, realistic and all. You make it so easy to pity Rousseau, while still being able to like her; she keeps all the awesome spirit that makes -present tense, present tense, present tense Dx- her such a great character, while still acknowledging the fact that The Island has left its very permanent mark on her, and odds are she'll never fully recover ( ... )

On that I do think I have canon to thank, much as I'm loathe to do so at the moment. Rousseau is written, played, and directed that way - the "pathetic or completely insane" angle in fic irritates me as well. She's only shown up once that way in canon, when she, erm, borrowed Aaron without permission, but even then it's hard not to have a little bit of sympathy for her, too. I'm really glad the balance works for you.

d positive thoughts for the next episode! It'll all work out - hell, if we're lucky (really, really damn lucky) we might even get a Rousseau-centric plot-line. If anyone deserves their own flashback simply for being kickass, it's Rousseau.Absolutely! My fingers are crossed too ( ... )

Sorry, I'm in a bit of a rush but I just wanted to say thanks for writing this and posting it now to remind us of how much potential Alex and Rousseau have. Another great chapter. I like the change of POV to Danielle. That brought a new dimension to this series.

Glad to hear that you liked it, and especially that the Danielle POV worked for you. I promised myself that I'd only use Alex and Thérèse in this series, but apparently not... Many thanks for your kind words, especially given the time constraints on you!

*catches up with past week's fic*

Thanks so much really for this. It was exactly what one needed to read after that. *sighs*

I absolutely love your Danielle, you use all the potential she has as a character and the way you handle all her issues past and present is great. Good observations on the first part (there really aren't snakes there, duh :/ it never occurred to me but well..), especially on the food bit. The scene where she found Karl was great, on one side it was almost funny but seeing it from Danielle's POV it really wasn't and I love how it came across. The conversation with Alex at the end was lovely and the paragraph with Danielle's sorta stream of conscience was awesome. Great job on this chapter, too! And I see that Alex hasn't lost time ;) good for her and Karl ;)

It was exactly what I needed to write, too. Bastards... Ahem. I'm glad it was therapeutic for you as well.

Thanks. Too bad the same thing can't be said of some people *cough**Darlton**cough*.

That's a random fragment of an old ecology course: isolated islands often don't have indigenous snakes. (Difficulty of migration combined with lack of prey sufficient to maintain enough of a population for survival-level diversity.) (Yes, I had to write that on a test once.;) I have no idea why I remember that...

The scene where she found Karl was great, on one side it was almost funny but seeing it from Danielle's POV it really wasn't and I love how it came across.Danielle can actually lend herself to morbid comedy, or at least a sad/funny form of irony - cf. her getting bear-hugged by Hurley in S1 ( ... )
