You realize that ending begs for a follow-up soon, right? *hints ( ... )

Yep, that's the plan!

that plot bunny of mine will get out soon-ish
Yay! *Claps hands in glee.* As for the surname... maybe he can play uncle to little Clementine in this 'verse? Unlikely, but...

those few lines where we actually got how Sawyer died were the best possible punch. I mean, there were barely three lines but they hit.
I'm very glad to hear that you think so, because I was really conflicted as to how much back story was a good idea at this juncture. Good to know that it worked for at least one person... And also glad to know that the Sawyer and the Karl characterizations worked for you, especially the latter. Canon!Karl is a bit of a tabula rasa - doesn't like the Others, has obviously been with them for a long time and has been affected by this, **kindawantstoscrewbensdaughter**cough**.

Ah, Hurley. If he ever got off the island, what would he do but play video games? He and Locke, maybe. ;)

Seriously, wonderful to hear that you liked it. So many thanks!

Yeah, you can't just leave that there. More, now.

btw, I totally love that you used icons to break the sections up. That is too cool.

The way you alluded to Sawyer's death here was really perfect and painful. And Karl using Ford as his last name is wonderful.

And despite not really being into Karl/Alex on the show you manage to keep me coming back for it here. It's amazing what you'll get me to read :)

Can't wait to see more!

More is on the way, don't worry! Glad you like the icons - I have this odd magpie-like collection of them, with the idea that I'd put them all to some use eventually...

And despite not really being into Karl/Alex on the show you manage to keep me coming back for it here.

Canon!Karl/Alex is indeed bland teenage romance at its... hmmm, fell asleep just thinking about it. But I'm convinced that there are ways of making it interesting, and it's good to hear that it's succeeded for you.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and for your support!

I have way too many icons that I'll probably never use as well, so I know where you're coming from.

Thank you! It has zero depth to it. I mean it was cute at the beginning now it's just...it bores me. Even if I really like Alex. So I'm glad you've gone and done something to it to make it interesting.

I read this so slowly because I expected it was the end of a series I had enjoyed so much. Your response to the other comments suggests more is indeed planned. Yay!

It was nice to finally know more about Sawyer and Locke's tragic fates. You don't have to give us the details because it does not take too much to imagine what happened between them. I don't know if in this world Kate and Sawyer remained together but if they had been I could see her retreating into jail as one way to deal with losing him.

Maybe if Alex and Karl were right for each other, they wouldn’t have kept spending every kiss worrying that it would get out of hand. One of my favourite part of this series is seeing how Alex goes through regular adolescent angst with island angst and this sentence is a perfect melding of both worlds. You have given me great faith that she will manage to survive both ( ... )

You've got me blushing massively over here. ;) It's great to hear that you've been enjoying this fic; it's a lot of fun to write.

I'm actually undecided about that one as well. ;) I think the damned triangle must have ended, though, or Alex wouldn't miss Kate too much!

Canon!Alex seems like a pretty tough cookie - I've got faith in her too.

the community built by the survivors. Clearly this is how they survived on island and they need each other just as much off island.
I do like to think that they'd do better if they stuck together afterwards. They've been through something so traumatic and life-defining there, and no one else could really understand it, so I definitely also think they'd continue to need each other.

And mmmmm, bibimbap. This is what I had for lunch! Your food ( ... )

There's so much I love about this installment, once again.

I'm so glad you've fleshed out Karl and Alex's relationship here. Her jealousy over other girls Karl mentions seems so normal that it strikes me also as sad. Because so little else for them is normal.

When you revealed how Sawyer (and Locke) died, I actually gasped out loud. It's such a plausible conclusion to their stories, and the thought of Karl and Alex nursing Sawyer while at the same time burying Locke is just heartbreaking. I also love that you have Karl taking Sawyer's last name. I've loved those two in their reluctant mentor/mentee relationship ever since Sawyer first encouraged him about Alex in season 3.

My favorite parts continue to be the group get-togethers. Sayid making falafel literally makes my mouth water ;) And I'm so glad they just haven't let each other drift away after rescue, like I tend to worry they will in canon.

So well done, once again, and I can't wait for the next piece!

Normalcy - of the good kind - is definitely not a staple of Alex's life, is it? I suppose this level of jealousy is a bit young for her, but I thought it would make sense that she would feel it under the circumstances. I'm glad to hear it worked for you.

Me too! I don't get the impression that canon!Karl is a very fleshed-out character, but the actor has a great rapport with Josh Holloway, and I love the way it shines through their scenes.

I do think the survivors would need to stay together to some degree for their mental health. Of course, canon likes to destroy their well-being ( ... )
