Hey! I want to get a tattoo this winter. Help.
The kanji is comprised of the character for "knife"/"blade" cutting into the character for "heart" (with blood spray!). It means, literally, to suffer and survive the pain of having your heart cut open. Endurance is an incredibly resonant concept for me. Ask me about it sometime. This tattoo would go on my back, behind my heart, probably couched in some asian-looking clouds or blood or whatever.
The "star-shaped concrete poem lyric thing" is the sky, its stars like fortune, filled me (yeah, I got pretty much the whole line wrong in the poll body--really, it's one of my favourite songs, believe me *facepalm*) either in the shape of a star or making the lines of a star, or something like that. If I got the lyric without the shape, I'd get the words floating in an astronomically-accurate starfield (I considered using Virgo, since that's my sign, but Virgo is just a really ugly field/constellation. Trufax). I like astronomy? And the idea is more that the lyric describes how I feel about the night sky than me just liking the lyric 'cause it's pretty. Lyric+starfield would go on my left forearm. I don't know where I'd put the concrete poem thing.
Fix me in forty-five would go across the inside of my left wrist, where I wear my watch. When I wear a watch, ha.
I could write it better than you ever felt it--oh man. Ideally, if I were really brave, it'd go along the inside of my right index finger and thumb. Since I am not really brave, I don't know where I'd put it. Maybe I should save it for when I'm not a big wimp so I can get it exactly where I want it.
One foot in front of the other, one foot back to counter it would go across my shoulders.
"Action is character"--I'd love to have a The Watchmen-themed tattoo with this quote. Awesome.
The other things--I have no concrete ideas where I'd like to put them. I think the purple switch would go on the base of my neck.
All the non-FOB/Weakerthans lyrics/quotes have been on my list of things I might like to have tattooed on me for many years. Especially the sky, its stars like fortune and one foot in front of the other (my other journal is named after this lyric).
I'm avoiding fleshy areas 'cause I'm losing weight and it's entirely possible I'll have to have a shitload of excess skin removed at some point (also: I make fun of people with tramp stamps. I do not want to have one, thank you). I know the wrists/hands/neck hurt a lot--I have a fairly good tolerance for pain, though I will admit I've never done anything at all like being tattooed. I am not a huge fan of stingy pain (thus being a big wimp about getting my fingers done, and general woobiness about getting inked in general).
