Wolfgang does IT contract work for two companies. The one he does the most work for has just rung up to say that they are shutting up shop for the duration. I'm already not earning because (a) no contact with children = no English lessons and (b) closed theatres means no translation work. We expect his other company to shut up shop any day now. We'

This is an unbelievably disruptive event, world-wide. We can't even be sure yet how long it will last but at least we know it will end at some point.

It makes me think about the lasting disruptions coming from climate change and I don't actually want to think about that.

That's a kick in the teeth. Hopefully the duration will not be much more than a couple of months. Thank goodness you have savings available. The government money will soften the blow as well, Good luck with the financial planning. Eeeek.

Hello - sorry to hear how disruptions are hitting you. It's the complete open-endedness of it all that's so unnerving, isn't it?

We'd been hoping to visit Vienna in June and possibly somewhere else (like Graz or Eisenstadt) in September too (before Brexit hits our wine-consumption), but sadly ….:(

We were supposed to be going to Bosnia at Easter and my mother was supposed to visit us in May - I have no idea when travel is ever going to be a thing again. As long as there are pockets of coronavirus circulating, my guess is the borders will stay closed. At least until a vaccine has been widely administered. Stay safe!
