The mayor of the nearest town has just tested positive for coronavirus. I find myself relieved that at the local council meeting last Monday, where most of the people present were his colleagues from the same party, I refused to shake hands with anyone. I was thinking more about setting a good example at the time, but it is now starting to hit home ( Read more... )

Except in Italy and Iran, where they're in full-blown real war mode.

It's really sinking in here. Everything' s closed now, except for groceries and pharmacies. Rick's still going in to work but that may change soon, to working from home.

We're hoping we will be ok after last week's social contacts. No more of that for awhile.

It's hard to think of everyone, ourselves included, as potential carriers.

I think everyone has trouble with the idea of perfectly ordinary people being potential carriers. One area of Austria has had to be put completely into quarantine because after the lockdown, a bunch of tourists had an apres ski party and the mayor didn't put a stop to it.

People are blockheads. Well, some people.

Rick and I are waiting to see whether our son is cleared. He's had a fever for days and only time will tell if he's got the virus. (no tests, apparently you have to be critically ill before they will test) If he does, we've been exposed. So we're self-quarantining. No going anywhere, except outside for a walk.
