So I wasn't really going to say anything here about Adam Lambert's performance on the AMAs the other night because anyone who I would have wanted to talk about it to, I've already done it, but this whole GMA bs has me wanting to say something. So this is about Adam and double standards ( Read more... )

1) My gay friend was appalled by his performance. It kind of made me laugh.

2) Miley is more of a child/teen idol compared to Taylor. That's why she gets shit.

3) I don't see the hype between Kris or Adam. Or Miley.

lol for a moment I was like 'Who is commenting to me?' then realized it's your rp journal. lol.

Yeah, one of my gay friends didn't like it either. I guess I just don't see the big deal with it.

I could sorta see that, but then again Taylor was in the Sharkboy and Lava Girl movie, which was targeted at kids and then he's in Twilight. It just irks me I guess.

Amen, sister. I didn't see the performance, but what you've said is true; there are too many double standards and parents no longer want to raise their children. They just want to wait until their children are ruined, then blame everyone else for it. *ugh!* I'm really starting to hate stupid people.

The AMAs came on at 7:00 here and my daughter and I watched them together. I would have had a problem with what Adam did if it were two females. The gender isn't what I had a problem with - that shit should have been censored or put on cable so that my 12-year-old didn't have to see it. It was distasteful and to me, downright disgusting to do something like that in that forum. And before anyone says anything, yeah, I would have been offended by two women doing it. Again, it's not about gender. I'm pretty good at keeping my kid away from shows that might not be age-appropriate (which is performance was NOT) but I didn't see that one coming at all. Needless to say, we won't be watching Adam's performances from here on out, which is sad because I liked him.

Ok, so he came on at almost ten for you then? I was never allowed to stay up until ten when I was 12 and like I said, my brothers are almost 16 and they were in bed at nine.

This was just one peformance and one of the few songs that have anything to do with sex. Did you see or hear anything he said on The Early Show? He admitted that he got a little carried away, but if you saw his performance on that or Letterman, they were nothing like his AMA performance because the songs he sang are completely different. It's ignorant to judge someone based on one performance alone. What if it were Brendon who had done what Adam did? Would you stop being a Panic fan because of it?

I let my kid stay up later on certain occasions like watching music award shows together and honestly, I don't need someone trying to tell me when my child should be in bed. I personally think 9:00 is ridiculously early for 16-year-olds. If I choose to allow my child to stay up until midnight on a school night, that's still my choice and there's nothing wrong with that. Granted, she's never gotten to stay up that late except once when we were picking K up from the airport but still. Not the point ( ... )
