I really loved this, since The Lost Boy is both one of my favorite episodes and one that I wish had more follow up. Tell me, are you planning to write the Sarah Jane and Maria conversation as well? Or the Sarah Jane and Luke conversation? If not, could I convince you? Could I bribe you?

One really nice touch in this was the way Luke went back and forth between calling her 'Sarah Jane' and 'Mum.' Also, I really liked that you brought up the consequences of the episode for Clyde, which I confess I hadn't thought about before (I was blinded by delirious delight at all of Sarah and Luke's abandonment issues) but totally makes sense and is awesome. You write really great Clyde; he's such a complex character under the surface.

Thank you so much! I adore The Lost Boy too, and since I was a little nervous about writing these two, it was a good place to start - especially because I have been working (on and off) on a post-TLB Sarah Jane piece heavily featuring Alan and Maria (and possibly Luke). I adore season one and all of the wonderful tension that isn't explored as fully as it might be on a non-children's show, so I'd like to write tags to each of those episodes ( one down!) and have vague ideas of how they might play out - the issue will be actually sitting down and doing it! (So TL;DR - maybe :P)

I loved it when he did that in season one; it was always an interesting tell for me, so I'm glad it worked here. And I'm with you, I hadn't thought about the consequences for Clyde much, but once I decided to do this from his POV they seemed so obvious! I love him but have never really written him before, so I'm so happy you liked it :)

Oh, this is lovely. The Lost Boy is one of those episodes that has so many great developments that are never followed up on (like how the heck Sarah convinced the country she wasn't a child abductor), and you tied them all together very neatly. Clyde is my favourite of the kids and it's great to see fic that really does him justice. It's easy to go over the top with him, but you write him very deftly ( ... )

Thank you so much for your lovely comment! The Lost Boy really is such a wonderful whirlpool of character angst, and though I love the happy family ending, there's so much to explore in the missing scenes. As much as I love SJA as a kid's show and can't picture it any other way, I really, really wish we'd had a chance to see some of the consequences of their actions/lifestyle play out in a more adult and realistic way. (I guess that's what fic is for - certainly most of mine ( ... )
