May 12, 2013 12:21

We did an Iron Man III discussion post after it was released in Europe, so here's part two, since I think it's come out everywhere else since.

Let's talk IM 3 - spoilers in the comments.

ETA: For some reason, some comments are coming through screened, and I have no idea why - I haven't changed any of the comm's settings. I'm heading out to see ( Read more... )

Oh my god, Ben Kingsley. That was basically the only spoiler I gave to all my coworkers and it is basically the thing that makes me SO HAPPY OMG BEN KINGLSEY.

(Also the kid. And Tony and his PTSD. And that "GIVE ME A PROJECT I WILL SHUT AWAY FEELINGS WHEN I HAVE SOMETHING TO DO." is Tony's coping mechanism.)

I was totally unspoiled for Trevor, which was awesome!

Tony having fallout from all the trauma he's suffered since IM I added a nice bit of realism to the character, I thought.

Very happy that he was the shrapnel removed. Very surprised they went there, but made me happy.

The tag after the credits was made of ultimate win :)

I was unspoiled for Trevor as well, and had resigned myself to having a bad taste in my mouth and avoiding the subsequent fandom fallout, but omg. TREVOR. The Mandarin being an American-made construction of everything America fears about Islamic extremism, and extremist terrorism, and and and, guh. The entire arc fills my homeland security-studying heart with joy.

(I maybe also cried when Dum-E and You fell into the ocean, and again when Tony went back for them.)

BRUCE IS NOT THAT KIND OF DOCTOR. It is not his training! Or his impermanent!

Ben Kingsley is not an terrorist just an actor who is trying to achive something *rofl*

Loved the Bruce/Tony scene in the end.

I read an article somewhere that points our Trevor is what RDJ could have ended up as had he not gotten off the drugs.

I want so much to see it in English! Dubbing stole half of the charm (and I'm afraid translation lost some sense), but it still was magnificent!

Mandarin! Pepper, oh, how much I love Pepper saving the day! (I'm voting that her martial art skills come from lunch dates with Natasha in between movies:) ).

Jarvis is the best, as usual :). And bots!

I started a fic in my series a few months back where Pepper comes to Charlotte and Nat and asks them to teach her how to defend herself. So I was tickled when she was so kick ass in the movie :D

I was with Tony when he found Trevor, but it was done so cleverly that one had to laugh at the absurdity of the whole thing.

I loved all the armors, especially the Mark 42.

I'm glad he went back for the bots because they truly are his children.

Bruce in the end credits was a hoot!

Overall, it was a better movie than the second one.

The Mark 42 was surprisingly awesome! I saw the prototype from Comic Con and I was like, "what is this, all that gold is stupid', and it actually looked pretty awesome!

Trevor was both priceless, and worth the price of admission. The ultimate media construct bites back! (That said, I loved that he didn't get away with his attempts to abdicate all responsibility).

And YES to the PTSD issues (twitching after New York -- makes me wonder how they might deal with Clint Barton in Avengers 2?

My favourite line? Pepper -- "That was ... violent..." Also: "WarMachineRoxxx."
