We're entering our final stretch here with final drafts of our fics due at the end of the month.  I personally recommend sending your fic to your beta one last time before submitting it.  An extra pair of eyes always helps make sure there aren't any errors or

PFFFTTT I don't even know what to say. This fic is just nuts. I did an outline and then it flipped a big ol' bird to my outline and went its own way. I have it in beta review and I just hope that when it's all together it doesn't suck.

Am really excited to see what my artist comes up with!

I am done with the moving and the first weeks of university! So I can finally sit down AND WORK ON THE FIC!

I should be able to somehow manage 10k from my rough outline and then look for a beta ......... oh Jegus

So far, I'm proceeding on schedule, although I'm about to hunker down to quickly finish all my revisions before sending my fic back for another round of Beta-reading.

I have to say how helpful it's been to take a break from my fic before sitting down again to make the major revisions. The extended deadline gave me the opportunity to put this project on the back burner for a little bit, and I'm very glad I did, because coming back now without the fic being fresh in mind, I'm able to see the weak points a lot more clearly. Even without having gotten great help from my Beta, I would have been able to pinpoint sections that needed a major rewrite, although the specific suggestions from the Beta are a big help in directing my efforts.

Totally forgot to put my own comment down.

I've been working two part-time jobs and looking for one full time to replace them with. So my actual writing time has been...low. And video games, CURSE YOU PS3!

I know where I want to go with my final draft. My REAL problem is that once I finished my rough draft, my brain said 'Oh, we must be done. Time to move on.' So maybe less cursing the video games and more cursing my own Magpie like tendency to be distracted and OH LOOK A SHINY NICKEL!

Oh you know. No time to actually write. Plots going every which way except where I want them to go. Characters not staying in character. Inflicting my poor betas with the craptasticness I keep sending them because of the reasons listed above. The usual.

This story has wound up being harder to piece together than I originally planned and it's making me frustrated because it has potential to be decent. On a positive I have about 12k written.

@schwarztkd - I felt the same way after I made my outline. My brain went "story's done, move on."

I know right?! Even when I try to think about it my brain says 'Oh hey, try this random other idea instead! Final draft? Screw that!'

I'm working on my fic, but how do you get past that mental block?
