Alright folks, we're finally here. The artist signups have arrived!
For everyone who didn't get a chance to send in their rough drafts, I'm very sorry but I just couldn't keep the artists waiting any longer. This is pushing it as it is. Please keep working on your stories so we can still include them in the final submissions.
That being said let's get to the info for the artists. XD
How this works is actually pretty simple, I took all the descriptions that people sent with their drafts and posted them below. They have all been numbered, and I'd say there is a decent amount to go around. Anyone interested in being an artist please comment below with your top three choices. I didn't include author names but you'll be notified once choices have been sorted out. Once you've gotten a story it's between you and the author how to take care of the details. I'd suggest simply using the rough draft (or final if it's finished) and working off of that.
This is going to be somewhat first come first serve, but I'll do my best to make sure you get one of your choices. And if I'm able, I'll go through and cross off stories that have been selected to avoid as much confusion as possible.
Ok, rambling post finished, and finally, a reminder on due dates;
Rough drafts due September 30th
Artist Signups October 1st through October 15th
Art submissions due November 30th
Final drafts due November 30th
10/5/11 EDIT: Edited due to change in story lineup as well as a (brilliant) suggestion to include pairing and rating info.
Here are the stories up for grabs:
1:
Any Pairings: Mai/Jet
Rating: T, just to be safe. Though I doubt it's over a PG.
Brief Summary: Modern AU. Mai is a hired assassin sent to the Earth Kingdom to eliminate the boy-prince Kuei when an unexpected Nobody shows up to get in the middle of everything. This Nobody, Jet is his name, has a penchant for messing everything up and annoying Mai half to death. He flirts with her, almost exposes her, but after working with him, she can't help but feel a sense of comaraderie-- she takes him in and lies to him in order to complete her contract. Things get tricky when she's ordered to kill both Kuei and Jet. It shouldn't be a difficult decision, since he hates everything Fire Nation and thus her. But, even though she is a trained assassin, Mai is no murderer.
2:
Any Pairings ultimately Zutara but there's Zhaotara and ZukoxOC and Taang if you squint
Rating T for some language and sensuality
Brief Summary The Avatar world mimics 18th-century Europe. Katara, from the Water Tribe/Russia, is brought to the Fire Nation/England to be Zhao's mistress until the day that she stands up to him and takes Iroh as her companion. They move to the Earth Kingdom/France Austria hybrid to spend their days in Ba Sing Se/Paris-Vienna enjoying the culture. His dear nephew Zuko visits them while he is on tour of the continent and the two fall in love. Politics isn't pretty but damn if they won't enjoy themselves until it crashes around them.
3:
Any Pairings: Implied Maiko, hints of other cannon pairings
Rating: K+
Brief Summary: Set between The Boiling Rock Part II and The Southern Raiders. When Sokka brings back a Fire Nation disease to the Western Air Temple, Zuko and Toph must travel to the Fire Nation to find a cure. However, they find themselves mixed up in a small town’s politics overseen by an old enemy Zuko never thought he would have to face again.
4:
Pairing: Zuko/Katara
Rating: T (for violence, gore, language and some sexual situations)
Summary: A creature is terrorizing the Southern Water Tribe, so Zuko and Katara travel deep into the arctic tundra in order to find it and destroy it. Meanwhile, Aang keeps having disturbing dreams...
5:
Any Pairings: Azula/Toph
Rating: Mature. NC-17, in fact.
Brief Summary: Toph gets to rescue a princess, but Azula isn't exactly what you'd call grateful. For one thing, being held captive by vengeful earthbenders has rekindled the problems she hoped were left in the past. For another thing, she's uncomfortably drawn to Toph, the only woman in the world who can match Azula for power and arrogance. With the tenth anniversary of the Avatar's' return nearing, Toph and Azula find themselves fighting to prevent another war.
6:
Any Pairings: Smellerbee/Longshot, if you squint hard in the right lighting.
Rating: Teen
Brief Summary: After losing the trust of the Avatar and his friends, the Freedom Fighters have one last horrible adventure before going their separate ways. The Fire Nation makes its worst and most brazen ploy yet to dislodge Jet's warriors from the forest, and the results are death, broken promises, and the end of friendships. On the surface, this story is a action-oriented tale of derring-do with tragic elements, but the narrative goes out of its way to keep hinting at the darker side of the Freedom Fighters and their methods. The bad guys are depraved enough that Jet is a hero for opposing them, but his personal failings may be the greatest enemy of all.
7:
Pairings: Some very mild Azula/Ty Lee (but the story is essentially gen)
Rating: PG-13/Teen
Warnings: There’s nothing above a PG-13/Teen rating, but given the story’s premise, naturally it deals with things such as imperialism, the physical and mental effects of war, a dystopian setting, and other topics that may not be appropriate for some readers.
Summary: AU. Sozin’s Comet returned; the Avatar didn’t, and Fire Lord Ozai conquered the world. Eighteen years later, two Water Tribe siblings find a young airbender in an iceberg, but is this a world too far gone to save? Action/adventure/drama.
8:
No Pairings
Teen to Adult for violence
Crossover between Avatar and James Cameron’s “The Thing”. Zuko’s search of the South Pole finds a decimated village with only two survivors. Stopping them before they can kill an arctic hound he takes them onboard not knowing the threat that comes with them. Now his crew is under attack and he doesn’t know how to stop it.
9:
Any Pairings: Jet/Zuko, various implied others
Rating: M (rated for sexual situations and also child abuse)
Summary: In this world, there are two kinds of people: superheroes and ordinary people. Zuko's never really been either.
10:
Any Pairings: Zuko/Sokka, Jet/Sokka
Rating: Mature
Brief Summary: When two rich boys are both interested in another boy with a certain gift, nothing can stay the way it is. But the boy only loves one of them. Wrong decisions, lies and deception will have him choose a future he's never seen in his dreams.
11:
Pairings: Potentially Sokka and Azula, if the introduction scene goes the right way
Rating: Nothing worse than the television show
Brief Summary: Seven years after the light show in Ba Sing Se's Crystal Caves, Aang is still trapped in a chunk of crystal that looks a little bit too much like an iceberg. Azula's lightning \ didn't kill him, but some bad combination of lightning and the Avatar State left them with no \ Avatar and no luck.
12:
Any Pairings Zuko/Azula
Rating T to Light R?
Brief Summary After discovering the identity of the Blue Spirit, Azula uses the knowledge to blackmail her brother into helping her chase the Avatar. This may or may not lead to further complicate Zuko's life. But he's not necessarily complaining.
13:
Any Pairings pre-story Zuko(genderswapped)/OMC
Rating M, for some fairly graphic nightmare imagery.
Brief Summary After their escape from the North Pole, Princess Zura shares a secret with her uncle that has the potential to radically alter the face of Fire and potentially even global politics. The story follows Zura and Iroh the course of Season 2 in the face of Zura's game-changing revelation.
14:
Any Pairings Sokka/Azula, background Katara/Aang and Zuko/Mai
Rating Mature, might be NC-17 but that depends on what I keep and what I cut in the final revision.
Brief Summary Azula has been in the mental asylum trapped in her own delusions for six years. In a desperate ploy to free her, Ursa sets a chain of events in motion that leads to Azula being taken to the North Pole and being touched by the Moon Spirit in the Oasis. Yue becomes part of her, and this joining leads Azula to a new understanding of herself, the real chains that bind her, and eventually the search for a new destiny. Post-series fic, but likely not canon with the events of Korra and the upcoming comics.
15:
Zuko/Song
Teen
An AU take on Zuko’s banishment wherein Song finds a burned and battered boy passed out in an alley and her mother decides to keep him, and Zuko finds that the Earth Kingdom is just as terrible a place as he's been told, except when it's not. He has no honor, no name, and no chance of going home--unless something can convince him that he already is.
16:
Any Pairings: Katara-centric, includes hints of Sokkatara, Sokkaang, Kataang, and Sokko
Rating: Teen (for mild sexual themes, mild violence, and unknowing incest)
Brief Summary: Pre-series AU; Chief Hakoda's only child makes a habit of finding mysterious boys. The first time Katara sees a boy her own age, she thinks he is a spirit.
EDIT: I'm going to be keeping this open for new sign-ups but have crossed off the ones that have been claimed.
