Yep. In the office again on a Saturday - the payroll year end is giving me gyp and I made a stupid mistake last week (due to having a bad headcold and my monthly hormonal onslaught both at the same time) which has taken me a little while to sort out. Sigh. I hate functioning below the best of my capabilities. It makes me feel so lazy and stupid

I keep looking at it and thinking I should start it but then I get distracted with other things. Am rereading I Capture the Castle again as I've been thinking about it after my book meme the other day. It is really such a great book. Dodie Smith's descriptions of the Mortmains are so vivid and Cassandra's little asides as narrator are hilarious. She's a very progmatic girl sometimes :)

Here's my shot at a first paragraph, anyway:

"Captain!" the first officer said, tension in his voice. "Deck three is reporting the sudden appearance of a pineapple, six oranges, and a papaya!"

"Again?" the captain said. "That's the third time this week!"

"Yes, Captain," the first officer said. "What do you think we should do?"

"There's only one thing to do, Number One," the captain said. "Smoothies for everyone!"

I think that, even if the book *isn't* a cracker, it was probably worth it for the title along *g*
