I got to see the baby today!! Of course you can't really tell all that much, but I saw it move and I saw its heart beating. The heartrate was 167. Soemone who knows something about that can tell me if that's a good heartrate or not because I have no clue. But they said the due date is November 7th. It's way more exciting now that I've seen it and I ( Read more... )

that's awesome. 167 is perfectly normal for 1st trimester. When you are in labor, they want the HR to be between 120-160. As the fetus ages, its heart rate will slow down a bit as it gets bigger. Congrats!

Aww, thanks! :D It's good to hear that that's a normal heartrate.

You're so smart you amaze me. :) I'm sure you're be reassuring me a million times in the next 8 months that I'm normal. lol

It's no problem. I love obstetric nursing and that's something I'm considering doing when I finally finish school so I'm always here to answer questions if you have them. I got some good practice with my friend Jen, who just gave birth to her son Michael last week :)

Didn't your doctor tell you whether that heartrate was good or not? lol Aw, this must be so exciting! :)

Well, I had to have it done at the hospital in radiology because my Dr. didn't have the equipment, since it was the nice intrusive kind of ultrasound. lol, but anyway, no she didn't say at all! I was surprised. She just said, 'and the heartrate is 167' and that was it. I figured it must be okay since she didn't seem worried but I thought I'd ask just to be sure. :) And thanks! It is really exciting. I'm just ready for November to be here so I can see it live and in person. ;)

Awwwwwwwwwww. That really is wonderful.

I was going to say that that rate sounds normal but someone else has that covered. I am surprised that the doctor didn't tell you either way, though!

It must've been incredible to see the heart beating. :)

It was incredible. It really really was. I mean, up until you see it, it doesn't really seem real, you know? But after that, it really hit home. You should have seen it. That's the fastest heartbeat I've ever seen! Right now its heart must be huge in comparison to the rest of its body. It was amazing. :)
