Thanks for your answers, those who responded to my previous question. I am at home now, on my computer, old as it is, I'm used to it. (I borrowed a nifty littke EEE but it was impossible to type on without constant error

The thought of retyping this entire book (because the original computer files are long gone, having been done on a very old computer back in the early nineties, on PC-Write, a software that doesn't exist any more) is really, REALLY daunting.
I could help manually do this from my copy, if this goes through. I probably wouldn't have time to do the whole thing, but I could definitely help! You'd still have to go through and make any corrections you wanted, but that wouldn't take as long as retyping the whole thing.
Or actually maybe you could see if jeidai has the files? I know she made that beautiful handmade copy of the book.
I was wondering if scanning and having an ocr-software running over the pages wouldn't be faster. Or asking Firebird imprint if THEY kept a file of the book.
Kristin Cashore talked about using voice recognition software to read her drafts into the computer. Maybe ask her some questions about how she likes that process? and how it works?
Coronets and Steel sold! That is fantastic news! (...may I be so bold as to ask to whom? :D)
I agree with bookaddict and the rest--there must be an e-copy of Crown Duel somewhere, or you could ask for volunteers and we'd all claim certain chapters. :)
I join in with newsboyhat - I'm sure you'll find us willing to type up the chapters from our copies of the book. Congratulations on the good news. Excuse me if I sound ignorant, but remind me what is Coronets and Steel? On a related matter, is there a name for the third CJ book that can be revealed by now?
Oh, on third CJ book--I'm slowly working on it, though I suspect that Norilana is backed up with work right now, and it will probably be delayed. Thank you for asking, though!

I didn't know you had any other Vidanric scenes in mind--can't wait to read those!
Count me in on the typing party! That is, if it's needed. And if another person is needed.
