Abe was dressed in a long black coat. He was wearing a fedora that shaded his face. He'd forgone a beard or sunglasses and, because he'd just swam, he'd also made this quick trip without his respirator.

He had no desire for a complete costume as it was late enough at night. And the first person he met wasn't too terribly surprised at his presence. But he also didn't want to be a shock to anyone. He was still unsure of who resided here exactly.

Abe was flipping through CDs right now in the classical music section. It was a casual look to see what was available. It wasn't as if he had anything to play them on. He heard the door's bell and turned to catch whoever it was in his periphery. There was something that intrigued him about the girl the minute he saw her. But he suppressed the emotion. Too many years in the BPRD, he thought, not everyone is a daemon in disguise.

The scent that struck Alice as soon as the cooler air from the store hit her face was not what she had expected.

Fish?

But not fish. Not exactly fish. A small bemused frown creased Alice's porcelain-smooth forehead. Her gaze flicked to the store's only other customer. A trenchcoat and hat weren't really any defense against her sharp eyes.

Blue skin. And-- She glanced down at his hands. Webbed fingers. Well, now I have seen everything! Her gift was giving her nothing at all. If she needed confirmation that the person in front of her wasn't human, that would do.

The whole assessment took less than a split second, and then she was moving toward the stranger. Classical music was Edward's preference, after all. She found a spot a few feet down the row from him and began flipping through the CDs herself.

"Hello." Her light, musical voice was nothing but friendly. "I don't think I've seen you before, have I? I'm Alice."

As she neared Abe found himself tensing a little. It wasn't as if he wasn't a social animal. It was the kind of animal he was that was in question. Now that she could see him, and he knew she could (his disguise was nothing but a distraction, not a real costume), it was time to see what her reaction would be.

And another curiosity was that when she came closer his intuition became stronger on her being not quite human. Without his gloves he was able to sense her a bit better. The salutation was very friendly, though, and who was he not to return such cordial introduction.

"Hello," he replied. "No, I don't imagine you have. That is unless you've been in the marina as of late." A beat. "Literally." If he could smile he would. "I've not been here very long. I'm Abe. It's nice to meet you, Alice. Are you a fan of classical music, too?" He pointed to the CDs excitedly.

In the marina. Well, she could have been. It wasn't as though she needed to breathe. Alice smiled. "I haven't been, though now that I know someone's living there, perhaps I'll drop by sometime. It's lovely to meet you, Abe."

Pulling out a CD she didn't immediately recognize, she glanced at it. No good. "I am, in moderation. I'm really looking for my brother, though. The trouble is, I'm not sure there are many of these he doesn't already have!" She considered and rejected another one, and then her golden eyes shifted back to Abe. "I don't suppose you could suggest something? What's your favorite?"
