Icon Making, Procrastinating and a Question

Could anyone point me in the direction of some really good, basic, icon making tutorials? I have a copy of Photoshop 7, but I'm really not particularly good with it, so the more basic, the better, really! I have some ideas for some icons I'd like to try to make, but everything I do either comes out too dark, or too fuzzy, or the text looks wrong, ( Read more... )

icon_tutorial, icon_coloring, psd_tuts, good_tutorial. Needless to say, though, tips will vary depending one who you as and what you're trying make. Maybe you should give .psd's a try instead? When I started that's pretty much all I used. You can mix and match steps from various files, become a bit more familiar with layers and blend modes. It's really quite helpful for beginners.

No tips here, I still need to learn all this stuff for myself. So I'll take a look at those comms as well. Not that I have time for this stuff, but I want to learn this stuff sometime.

I found icon_tutorial really useful, actually. Not that my icons are great, but I have much more of an idea about how to use colour and layers and the various tools now.
