Sounds like Post Partum Psychosis, to me, which is a serious mental illness of its own.

That's so very sad, I feel so sorry for them all. It does without doubt sound like Post Partum Psychosis :-(

She didn't want the child to "ruin her life."

Looks like she went ahead and ruined her life anyway. At least, I HOPE her life is ruined.

It constantly distresses me that one needs training and must pass an exam in order to drive, but one needs no qualification whatsoever to become a parent. If people simply had to go across town and stand in line at the MVA to get a license in order to give birth, many of our society's problems would vanish.
