[Toushirou's out and about, if only because sleeping is just not really on his agenda tonight. Probably not for a couple more nights -- he'll just crash then. Until then, he's been here and there, exploring what he can and keeping quiet. He's making his way back to the community building, not entirely pleased with this... apartment of his there, but he'll take what he can get. As long as he's got a place to be alone and think, he'll deal with it. Sword on his back -- because he is not going anywhere without it -- and arms crossed, he's walking fairly slowly. He just doesn't want to go inside and call it another day gone.]

[Shadows don't have reiatsu, and there's so many people around that Toushirou's takes no special interest in anything right now. It's only when the sword moves, sliding in its sheath, the Toushirou reacts. He spins and makes a grab for the hilt.]

[Because if kidou's not working, then unleashing Hyourinmaru probably wouldn't do him any good without an actual target. He's peering into the darkness now, trying to find something to aim at.]

[Flash steps and a heightened sense of awareness definitely helps. It didn't get Toushirou completely out of the way, but at least it kept him from being speared on once of those spikes. This is an attack worthy of Hyourinmaru, even if Toushirou isn't sure if it'll do any good. Ice forms along the edge of the sword and crashes toward the spikes even as he takes a moment to inspect the gash along his arm.]
