Mr. Ignatieff, I realize you and the Liberal Party are in a damned if we do or damned if we don't position right now, but at least if you voted against a Throne speech and budget you feel does nothing for Canadians. I think right now his problem is that on most issues he's not proposing anything different than the government.

I suspect that on top of being resistant to (perceived) constant elections, the public are particularly allergic to two things: a) voting early when it's likely the seat count won't change and b) being asked to choose between two (with apologies to the parties that aren't likley to form government in the next few years) parties with minimal policy differences.

I think he's probably ok with the budget and can't see any way to campaign against it without looking like a hypocrite. He is probably better to look for an issue that he can offer up to the public as an opportunity to make a change.
