hope you got all that straightened out before the new year! The belief is that you are supposed to give the house a major cleaning--dust behind the shelves, under the couch, and all that--then everyone takes a shower before midnight (including any pets). By doing so, you're shedding all the bad luck and preparing yourself for the new year; a fresh start, literally. : )
