Great minds? Check this out!

Ignore the animation, this is just good quality audio of the Patton Oswalt stand-up bit that a fan did some limited animation to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iq10bz3PxyY

See, the true story of the song is that the Mom had bad feet. We're talking gnarly, bunions and corns and hangnails. Feet that would make a pedicurist run screaming in terror.

So one night, she comes home from work, dog tired, and she pulls off her shoes and exclaims, "Oh! I've got to get some new shoes! My feet are killing me!"

Kid overheard, and the rest is history.

Y'know, I've always hated that song so much! I'm so glad someone pointed out the blah-ness of it. Of course, every Christmas season our Christian radio station has to play it a million times. Besides the coma-inducing sappiness of it, I just can't see a good message at all. There's way better songs out there with the message of what Christmas is all about.
