Odds and Ends...

I've been thinking about a lot of different things today...so I thought I'd just ramble on about them randomly.  Enjoy...

• I finally updated my website!  It's only been, I don't know, seven months...and it's not a huge update, but it's an update nonetheless.  I'm really going to make an effort to work on it regularly from now on.  No more letting

Yeah, I'm sure Padme's... behavior can be attributed to wanting to make things more clear for the kids. (There were several moments in the movie where I got this vibe, that things were being hammered in a little harder than if they'd been gearing toward an adult audience.) I'll also fanwank a bit that if Anakin hadn't been in danger, her reaction wouldn't have been so pronounced.

I know...it was just a little too...melodramatic for me. She manages to keep it together pretty well in the prequels, and I wouldn't begrudge her an emotional response as an initial reaction, but she should've pulled herself together after that, instead of nearly falling apart. I know, I know, the kiddies don't pick up on subtlety well...

On another topic - what's with critics calling Anakin a dirty old man? I didn't get that vibe from him at all...

Yeah, if that was the response either of them had whenever the other's name was brought up, there's no way it was kept a secret for years. Of course, I got the impression that by RotS it was something of an open secret anyway (Obi-Wan certainly knew), but still. Either way, I've got no prob shrugging it off as kiddie pandering.

I absolutely didn't get any sort of skeevy vibe from him at all - I think the film did a wonderful job establishing a very sweet big brother-/little sister-type of bond. But there do seem to be a handful of media outlets out there that are dying to put some sort of "salacious" spin on the relationship (lazypadawan has a rant on one particular article), for whatever reason. Typical Hollywood obsession with sex. :P Sheesh, we already see Anakin choke his wife and kill little kids, they want to make him a pedo too?

Seriously...like poor Anakin doesn't have enough problems without people making stuff up.

I didn't actually read any of the "Anakin is a sicko pervert" articles until after I saw the movie, but I saw the titles, and I have to admit that I was a little concerned walking into the theatre. I was relieved to discover that there wasn't even the slightest implication of impropriety. I agree with you - they have a total brother/sister thing going on
