Seeing Sideways: Assignment Four

I really like being selfish with my time. The rest of the world controls so much of it. It tells me that I should go get a job to make money to buy things, it tells me that I should go to school to get a stupid piece of paper that says I can do things (to go out and get a job to make money to buy things....), it tells me lots of things. I ( Read more... )

Heheheh. XD I'm pretty sure you're supposed to measure your pleats, and I think a traditional kilt is something like 2", but I could be mistaken on that one. Good luck with that! The authentics have so many layers and mandatory textures that I'd just as soon go out and spend a fortune than try and make one myself. :\

P.S. I love Spaceballs. ^^

Actually, it depends on the size of the pattern of the plaid you're working with, and whether you're pleating to the sett or pleating to the stripe. Since the fabric for Sean's kilt is a solid color (apparently Irish kilts are traditionally a solid color, and green, saffron, and black are the favorites), I just gathered up enough fabric so that it looked good :P Really I think it's turning out pretty well ^_^

Ah, see I only know much about Scottish kilts, and just assumed they were the same! Silly me. I have been researching the MacConnell clan for bagpiping for a while now. We're plaid. XD *points to icon*

They've gone to PLAID!

I wanted to find a plaid with our wedding colors in it. I did actually find something that would have been perfect at JoAnn. As a remnant. Apparel remnants at JoAnn, just FYI, have to be 1 yard or less. And of course they didn't have any more. Wahhh ;_;

So I finally found a black linen-look fabric that seemed to have a pretty good weight to it. It was only seven something a yard, and there was somewhere over seven yards of it. So now on with the pleating! I should post a picture of it, as it looks rather strange (I think) :P

Wish I'd been part of that movie marathon of yours-- those are some of my favorite all time films.

And don't pay those folks no mind who say that pleats are out of style. They also say that kilts are out of style. Shows what they know. Huh!

Who the hell says kilts are out of style? O_o They're like one of the most IN-style things I can think of right now. Well, ok, I wouldn't really consider most of the ones I've been seeing to be real kilts. But....yeah.

They're some of mine, too ^_^ And the list goes on and on and on....

What are some more of yours?
