Interesting. So this place is called the City? I didn't have any information about the existence of it available before today. This is troublesome. And I believe it is past my bedtime.

Kincaid? Where are you? I paid until August.

"Of course," he said, looking directly at Mouse as he spoke. The big dog though seemed more than happy to give the girl a ride, his tail wagging almost violently at the prospect. Setting her down he made sure that she was steady.

"You steady there?"

Ivy shifted her weight a bit, settling down on Mouse's broad back. She twined her hands through his fur, holding on.

"I am." She beamed.

Harry smiled and reached out to her, taking her hand and squeezing it for a moment before letting go. He didn't know if he was glad that she was here or not.

"Alright. We'll go home and get you something to eat and then you can get to bed."

"That would be good." Ivy nodded. When Mouse started walking, she concentrated on holding on. She was glad Harry was there.

"So what kind of kitty do you want?" Harry asked, trying to make casual conversation to keep her from worrying. This place was like a sort of vacation for Harry, he wanted it to be for her too.

"I like Van Kedisi, German Rex, Pixie Bob and Bombay cats best," Ivy replied earnestly. "But I like all kitties."

"Uhhhh..." Harry had no idea what those things were. He was really just looking for maybe a color and perhaps short hair/long hair.

"I don't... I don't know what... is available in the City," he finally settled on. It was a bit unnerving to admit you didn't know 1/1000th of what an eleven year old did. "But we'll find you one you like."

"Your girlfriend has offered to take me to get a kitty," Ivy smiled. She brushed her hands through Mouse's fur, petting the large dog. "I like your dog, too," she added.

"I think you'll have a lot of fun picking one out with her," he said, smiling as they made their way to building 2.

"And Ivy, I need you to be careful about who you let know that you're special, okay?" Harry said. "I'm sure you know, but there are a lot of bad people here."

When they came to the building she knew Harry lived in, Ivy slipped off Mouse's back, giving the dog another hug.

"You want me to pretend I'm an ordinary girl?" She didn't know if she could do that. She'd never been just a girl. She hadn't even had a name other than "the Archive" before meeting Harry.

"I think you'd be a very special girl even if you weren't the Archive," he told her, meaning every word of it. He couldn't imagine living your life as the Archive, never being seen for who you were.

"Just maybe not let on so readily that you know everything written down. It can make people nervous. Just... enjoy your time here. We'll go to the zoo soon and you can see the dinosaurs and unicorns."

Ivy thought about it for a second before she nodded. His words made her smile. He was the only one who liked her, she thought. Him and Kincaid. She missed Kincaid, but she squashed down the feeling. She wasn't supposed to get attached.

"I'll try," she promised, perking up at the mention of the zoo.

"The dinosaurs are amazing," he continued, taking her hand almost out of instinct as he lead her to their apartment. "And all sorts of other magical creatures or other creatures that might don't really exist.

"And of course you know about the Curses. But those can be fun. Who knows, maybe for one of them you'll be turned into a kitty?"

"I think I'll like the unicorns better." They were prettier. Dinosaurs were big and intimidating and not cute at all.

"I do know about the Curses. Most of them don't seem to be very well liked. But I think I could like turning into a kitty for a day."

Harry reached out and carefully lifted Ivy off of Mouse and onto the ground. For a moment he was slightly embarrassed, wondering idly if Ivy might find the wards on the place lacking. Fortunately, Elaine had strengthened them so they didn't look too bad. And he figured if Ivy didn't like them she could always make her own.

"And I'll make sure to get you a key to the apartment," he told her. "And you'll have to tell me your favorite foods so we can be sure to get those."
